A family run Group with over one hundred years’ experience in the transport industry. The group operates in Suffolk, Norfolk, Greater London, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Kent and Rutland.
Challenge
We were asked to create an aesthetically pleasing washroom environment as the washrooms have no natural light or ventilation so often became odorous. Also, to find a cost effective alternative to the use of paper towels for hand drying whilst maintaining the carbon footprint of the business, which is currently better than industry standard. The customers have been let down by two of their previous national washroom suppliers.
Solution
Firstly, to eliminate the odour, we provided an initial trial of the Airsteril units in the main washroom foyer and the nappy change area for one month free of charge. In these enclosed spaces the units completely removed all unpleasant odour and also helped to eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses found in the air or on exposed surfaces – 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
Secondly, the most efficient and cost effective solution for the customer was the installation of Eco Hand Dryers throughout the group branches, which are environmentally friendly and also aesthetically pleasing. This model is one of the most energy efficient hand dryers in the UK and has a power rating of only 900 watts along with a drying time of less than ten seconds. It is fully automatic, only functioning when hands are placed underneath the dryer breaking the beam and stopping once the hands are withdrawn when dry.
Result
The odours present in the unventilated washrooms before the Airsteril units were installed have been eliminated offering users a much more pleasant experience and the perception of how the business is run has been heightened.
The hand dryers look aesthetically pleasing and the washrooms look tidy and clean without the risk of paper towels on the floor. These not only maintain the carbon footprint of the company, the customer is making a financial saving of around 80% compared to the provision of providing paper towels and is also saving staff time as the paper towel dispensers and paper waste bins do not need to be serviced.
